Providing Postpartum Contraception During COVID-19 ★

This document describes the need for postpartum contraception during COVID-19, lists best practices for providing postpartum contraception, and distinguishes between methods that are safe for immediate postpartum use, methods that become safe after 6 weeks postpartum, and methods that are not recommended for postpartum use. We also include additional information on contraception and lactation, lactational amenorrhea method (LAM), counseling on postpartum Plan B or ella, and immediate postpartum IUD and implant insertion.
